How To Get Involved

The Aero Club is an extension of the Aeronautics Careers Academy, designed to give students even more hands-on exposure to the world of aviation. Through fundraising efforts and team collaboration, club members help plan and participate in exciting trips across Ohio to explore aeronautics in action—visiting airports, aviation schools, aerospace companies, and museums. It’s a great way to expand your learning, connect with professionals, and see the future of flight up close! Open to students that are enrolled in the CTE Aeronautics program. Brings together all aspects of Theatre to put on a full-length play. It presents opportunities for students in all grades who are interested in the Theatrical world; whether its acting, set construction, lighting, sound, or make up.  The Black Student Union (BSU), a student-led social organization at SMFHS, that aims at fostering community, promoting cultural awareness, and providing mentorship and leadership opportunities for Black students. The BSU will serve as a safe space for Black students to connect, grow, and thrive. Our mission is to promote unity, academic success, cultural education, and community engagement while advocating for equity and inclusion within our school and community. Business Professionals of America (BPA) is a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) available to students pursuing careers in business management, information technology, finance, office administration and other related career fields. Stow-Munroe Falls High School's chapter focuses on the Information Technology career field, which offers valuable opportunities through a co-curricular program aligned with national standards. With over 45,000 members across 1,800 chapters, including an international presence, BPA enables IT students to develop essential skills in leadership, career development, and community service through activities focused on professional, civic, and social growth. We are a service based club that promotes "SERVICE BEFORE SELF". We work directly with the Rotary of Stow-Munroe Falls. If you are interested in being a part of this fun and exciting group, we want YOU! This club will give students who are unable to join the Creative Writing elective class to have a space to collaborate and share their creative works and be exposed to new authors. The Stow-Munroe Falls Dance Team will be committed to representing the High School with the highest caliber of dance standards, school spirit, personal integrity and traditional teamwork.  This will be a great opportunity for the student who loves to dance and wants to be part of a high school team. Students on the team will uphold the standards and expectations of Stow-Munroe Falls High School through commitment, dedication, responsibility and discipline. This club presents several theatrical presentations including plays, musicals, and the Thespian Banquet and Induction yearly for the entertainment of the general public. All students are encouraged to join this group whose members are responsible for all phases of play production including acting, sound, lighting, set decorations, and makeup. There are also opportunities for those who would like to learn about and experience theater outside of a production setting. The club conducts a variety of community events such as Trunk-or-Treat and Lunch with Santa. The Environmentally Concerned Students Club (ECSC) is committed to making our school and community more eco-friendly and sustainable. We assess the school's environmental needs and work to implement green initiatives. Our members host events focused on reducing, reusing, and recycling, while sharing concerns about environmental issues and creating student-led projects. In addition, we actively fundraise to support environmental causes and volunteer to promote sustainability. The Stow-Munroe Falls High School ESports team is a competitive gaming group that brings together students passionate about video games and teamwork. The team participates in various popular ESports titles, such as Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Fortnite, and Rocket League. Members practice regularly to hone their skills, develop strategies, and build camaraderie. The team competes against other high schools in regional and national tournaments, promoting sportsmanship, collaboration, and strategic thinking. Beyond gaming, the E-Sports team also fosters a supportive community for students to engage in a shared interest, learn leadership skills, and explore potential career opportunities in the growing field of e-sports. SMFHS's chapter of a national student organization with over 240,000 members nationwide! The purpose of FCCLA is to provide students with leadership, career development, and networking opportunities. Students have the option to compete in career development events at the regional, state, and national level. The purpose of FCS and our local Huddle is to unite a Stow-Munroe Falls student-athlete with their 2 passions: Athletics & their Faith.  FCS focuses on serving local communities around the globe by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to unite, inspire and change the world through the gospel.  SMFHS has a certified Huddle Group that meets weekly during the school year on Thursdays at 6:45 AM in Room 231 (STUCO). A Huddle Group is one of the greatest ways to get connected with FCS. Huddles provide you with the opportunity to build community with other coaches and athletes as well as resource you with the tools you need to grow in the essentials of your faith and become a fully-devoted follower of Christ. SMFHS fishing club seeks to encourage students to engage the outdoors through the sport of fishing. We seek to develop the skills and knowledge needed to be a successful angler.  We seek to encourage friendships, sportsmanship, and  integrity and promote the sport of fishing. st_abell@smfcsd.org

Freshman Mentors are a group of students (10-12) who welcome the incoming 9th graders and new students to SMFHS, and help them feel less overwhelmed when coming to a new school.  Mentors provide guidance on various aspects of school culture, and foster a sense of belonging. Mentors are responsible for facilitating Day of Welcome, which is the first day of school each year, and only 9th grade and new students attend.  They encourage the students to join extracurriculars, teach the students the school fight song, alma mater, and cheers.  Mentors also welcome new students who come to SMFHS throughout the school year by giving them tours of the building, walking them to each class on their first day, and eating lunch with them for the first few days.  Each Freshman Mentor displays maturity,  responsibility , and trustworthiness.  An application process is in place to ensure these qualities are met. Hope Squad is a mental health awareness and suicide prevention program.  Students in Hope Squad must be nominated by their peers in an official nomination process held every 2 years.  Hope Squad members are responsible for attending monthly training meetings, and promoting positive messages about mental health, self-care,  and crisis resources throughout the year.  They are also available to be good listeners to students in need, and will make referrals for additional support when needed.  Hope Squad Advisors are:  Mrs. Loussedes st_cloussedes@smfcsd.org  Mrs. Dean st_sdean@smfcsd.org and Mrs. Durieux st_adurieux@smfcsd.org

This is a service organization sponsored by Kiwanis. The club's goals are to promote higher standards in scholarship, sportsmanship, and social contacts while providing practical means to form enduring friendships, to render unselfish service, and to build a better community. JAZZ ENSEMBLE: Open to any student interested in exploring the art of jazz music. The group practices weekly for its many performances. Students must audition for acceptance.

MADRIGALS: A select a cappella ensemble that performs music from the Renaissance era. Madrigals perform in at least two school concerts as well as for private and civic organizations throughout the area. Auditions are held in September.

VOCAL JAZZ: Stow-Munroe Falls High School’s most select ensemble, Vocal Jazz is comprised of 8-10 of some of the most advanced singers in the SMFHS Choir Program. Vocal Jazz meets once a week after school and learns the majority of their music entirely on their own. Their repertoire consists of jazz standards, swing, and even some pop a cappella arrangements. Auditions take place in September every year and require advanced sight-reading skills.

NHS is a national organization recognizing outstanding leadership, scholarship, service, and character. ROX stands for ruling our experiences. ROX is the national non-profit leader on programming, research and education focused on girls. ROX's mission is to create generations of confident girls who control their own relationships, experiences, decisions and futures. You will learn how to communicate effectively, develop healthy relationships, support other girls, form a healthy body image, navigate social media, manage stress and pressure, stay safe and defend yourself, plan for your post-high school plans and become leaders. Provides a means of greater understanding and love of the sciences. Are you looking toward a career in science? Do you enjoy working with others? Our students work together in areas of Life Science, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Earth Science, and more! Show off your engineering skills through build events, investigate through science labs, or just show off your knowledge in areas such as Forestry, Ornithology, Fossils, Rocks & Minerals, etc. Club members compete at regional, state, and (if lucky) national competitions. For fun on the slopes beginning in January, the Ski Club provides all students, beginners and experienced, the opportunity to ski and snowboard while enjoying the fellowship of other students at Brandywine ski resort. Members must purchase the ski package, which includes the lift tickets, lessons, and rental equipment for our 5 visits, or use another valid pass. Bus transportation is provided. The students choosing to participate in this group develop their public speaking skills as they debate with students of other high schools on issues of national and international importance. They also have the opportunity to develop their speaking and acting skills in nine individual events that encompass extemporaneous, impromptu speaking as well as duet, duo, humor, and drama interpretations of literature. Having won many prestigious awards, the yearbook staff members publish a visual and written record of the people and events of each school year. It’s NOT just writing! Pride in this award-winning, co-curricular publication is high as students in the journalism classes report on school and community news, write feature articles, sports articles, opinion pieces, and more. Students also obtain advertisements from local businesses, learn photography skills, use Photoshop and InDesign to create/design pages, draw editorial cartoons, create infographics, broadcast stories in both the school and community, and assume the responsibility for the production of the high school newspaper (Stohion) and website (stohion.com). Student Council, a prominent student government organization, gives students a voice in determining school activities and environment. It helps promote activities for the entire student body at Stow Munroe Falls High School and fosters a positive climate throughout the school. To be eligible, a student must apply and have recommendations recognizing leadership potential. Since the Student Council is modeled on our representative form of government and is intended to promote leadership skills, members are encouraged to attend leadership-training activities in the district as well as state and national workshops and conventions. Being a member of the student council is both an honor and a challenge. Members plan and organize activities and all homecoming events, including the dance, parade, assembly, and spirit week activities. Student Council also conducts a blood drive, holiday food and clothing drives, and a variety of community projects such as a senior citizen community pride program. Student council needs hard working, creative, fun loving students who welcome responsibility and want to experience leadership. Application and interview are offered for acceptance.
